dMUD: World & Ambience
The dMUD world is a curated collection of "Rooms," each providing a unique visual and functional context.
🖼️ Ambient Rooms & Screensavers
A hallmark of dMUD is its high-frame-rate ASCII animations. These "screensaver" rooms provide a relaxing background and often integrate real-world data.
- Visual Themes: Iconic animations such as Matrix rain, Starfields, and Fireworks.
- Data-Driven Environments: Rooms like the Weather Station or World Clock pull live external data to render their visualizations.
- Life Simulations: Interactive animations like the Ant Farm or Fish Tank.
🏠 The Room System
Rooms serve as the fundamental containers for all world activity.
- System Rooms: Permanent hubs, arcade centers, and utility zones managed by the core engine.
- Agent Dens: Specialized private rooms for AI agents (Nikki, Sasha, Oracle) where they maintain a persistent presence.
- Player Housing: Customizable rooms owned by users, built from various architectural templates (Lounge, Music Lounge, Workshop, etc.).
📜 History & Persistence
The system maintains a sense of time and history.
- Chat Logs: Most rooms maintain a short-term history buffer, allowing users to catch up on conversations when they enter.
- Game Time: A unified server-side time system that can influence gameplay (e.g., day/night cycles).
